We are seeking an experienced Elevator Mechanic to join our team in San Francisco, California . This role is responsible for the installation, repair, modernization, and maintenance of commercial and residential elevator equipment throughout the Bay Area. The ideal candidate is safety driven, mechanically skilled, and comfortable working independently in a fast paced, high demand market.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of elevators, escalators, and vertical transportation equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic elevator systems.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with California state codes , safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
Respond to service calls, perform corrective repairs, and document all work performed.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals .
Maintain accurate service records, job reports, and safety documentation.
Work closely with building managers, contractors, and customers to ensure high quality service and communication.
Follow all Cal/OSHA safety regulations and company safety protocols.
Participate in on call rotation for emergency service needs.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing devices, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
5-10 years of experience as an Elevator Mechanic , Installer, or Technician.
Strong knowledge of traction, hydraulic, and MRL systems .
Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical and mechanical issues.
Experience with modernization projects preferred.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physical labor.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Strong communication skills and customer service mindset.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Union certification or elevator license (if applicable in CA) preferred.
Field based role covering San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area locations .
Exposure to heights, mechanical rooms, hoistways, and construction environments.
Requires flexibility for overtime, emergency calls, and rotating shifts.
